It won't pick it up, alas (unless they've seriously changed things in the last few months) - I tried to claim my weblog here just after we went live, and it just won't work.

I figure we can do one of two things:
1) Allow people to create a sidebar of non-redirected links - but we might become way more attractive for spammers that way (despite nofollow).
2) Create a "claim" option specifically for technorati which will insert the correct link. (Ask people to copy/paste the tehnorati suggested html in some textarea, and pick up the relevant part of it.) The problem with this is that it's clutter and that'll be irrelevant/confusing/incomprehensible to 99% of people here. Plus, why only technorati - which is slow as anything - and not one of the alternatives which'll come along in due time? (Don't know anyone else which does weblog "claiming" at this point, but that can't last long.)

argh.. I wonder if it is the missing rel="me" in the link. :? I notice they had that in their code. And of course, with our SimpleCode, it won't currently allow a rel="" attribute. I wonder if adding it might fix the issue. I don't feel much for a Technorati specific claim option - as you say, I'd rather not bother too much creating functions for just one of the many alternatives.

I also note that Technorati seems to have quite some difficulty picking up entries on TP blogs in general.. that's despite constant pinging for every entry posted.

Didn't the guy that runs technorati recently ask google, microsoft and yahoo to lend a 'hand' when it comes to blog search/claiming?

Ok, I've had confirmation from tech support at Technorati that it is the redirection causing the problem, not the rel="" issue. I wonder if we actually need this redirecting in there, considering we are already adding the rel="nofollow" attribute as well?
